Sadio Mané completes Al Nassr switch: transfer fee, salary, roster
The former Liverpool man will link up with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League after making the move from Bayern Munich.
Al Nassr have completed the signing of Sadio Mané from Bayern Munich, bringing the Senegalese’s ill-fated spell in Germany to an end.
The Saudi Pro League club are thought to have paid a transfer fee of around $30 million for Mané, an amount that Bayern Munich were glad to accept given his underperformance last season.
Mané won everything in club football during a six-year spell with Premier League side Liverpool before making the move to Munich last summer. However Mané failed to integrate into the Bayern team and fell out of favour under head coach Thomas Tuchel.
The 31-year-old had travelled with Bayern for their preseason tour of Asia but was excluded from the team that faced Kawasaki Frontale last weekend. Al Nassr announced his signing with a video featuring an adapted version of a chant from his time with Liverpool.
Speaking earlier on Tuesday, Tuchel said that Mané's departure was the “best solution” for all involved.
“We had a long, big hug and we both agreed we don’t like what’s happening now, but we think it’s for the best in this situation,” Tuchel said. “Sometimes things don’t work out as everybody wants. I have always had a very good relationship with him and this will stay.”
What is Sadio Mané's salary at Al Nassr?
Saudi Pro League teams have turned the transfer market upside down this summer, snapping up some of the biggest names in world football. Saudi teams, particularly the four now funded by the Saudi state, can offer huge raises to players already accustomed to massive salaries.
Sadio Mané is expected to earn around $830,000 per week, tax-free, with Al Nassr and has signed a deal through 2027. If he remains with the club for the duration of that contract, he will earn more than $170 million.
Mané joins Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo Brozovic and Alex Telles in making the switch from Europe to Al Nassr. The latter three were all in the starting lineup on Monday as Al Nassr cruised to a 4-1 victory in the Arab Club Champions Cup.
