Santiago Bernabéu to host Spain-Brazil anti-racism friendly

The Spanish Football Federation have confirmed that the stadium in the Spanish capital will stage the friendly match in March.

Less than a month after the racist insults suffered by Real Madrid striker Vinicius Jr. at Mestalla during a LaLiga clash against Valencia, both the Spanish and Brazilian FA’s confirmed that they would stage a friendly game as part of the footballs’ ongoing battle to eradicate racist and discriminatory chanting which taints the game.

The game will be staged at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Tuesday, 26 March, 2024, with a local kick-off of 21:00 (3 pm ET/1200 pm PT) and the game will be the first outing of the new year for Luis de la Fuente’s team as they begin preperation ahead of the summer’s Euro 2024 tournament.

The match will be played under the slogan of ‘we all have the same skin’ and will cement the positive relationship between both national governing bodies as well as serving a positive message to football fans around the world that there is no place for racism within sport.

The game in March will be the tenth meeting between Spain and Brazil who last met back in the Confederations Cup in 2013. Of the nine previous meetings, Brazil have edged five games with two ending in a draw and two wins for the spanish side.
