Santiago Naveda is beginning to show his quality in the Polish first division. The Mexican midfielder scored in Miedz’s 2-1 win over Lechia, but was sent off minutes after his strike.

In the fifth minute, the azulcrema academy player fired a fine shot to beat the rival goalkeeper to put Miedz up. It was looking like a spectacular afternoon for Naveda, but in the 31st minute he got a direct red card leaving his team a man down.

Luciano Narsingh extended Miedz’s lead in the 46th minute and Gajos got one for the visitors a minute later. Despite Lechia having the ball and making more chances, the home side held on for the win and got their first three points of the season.

Naveda can play in the cup

Despite being sent off, Naveda could play in the Polish Cup on Wednesday, 31 August against Rasovia, while in the league he will be out for the game against Piast. With the victory over Lechia, Naveda and company hauled themselves off the bottom of the table to move into sixteenth position.
