The Napoli striker has bagged five goals in two games of the AFCON 2023 Group A qualifiers after his goal saw Nigeria secure all points against Sierra Leone along with his four tonight in Agadir as the Super Eagles brushed Sao Tome & Principe aside.

Today's scoreline is Nigeria's biggest win ever in a competitive game and beats the previous record of a 10-1 win over Dahomey (Benin) recorded in 1959.

Commiserations today to Sao Tome and Principe who offered a decent display in the first 45 minutes but capitulated in the second half with the sheer class of the Super Eagles simply too much for the African minnows.

This is how the Group A table looks currently with Sierra Leone-Guinea-Bissau set to be played later this evening. Super Eagles and the Djurtus both the nations expected to advance with the next games scheduled for September. 

The 2023 AFCON starts next June in Ivory Coast.

A solid start for the Jose Peseiro era on the Nigeria bench as the Portuguese racks up two wins and 12 goals in his first two competitive matches in charge of the Super Eagles.

The next international action for the Super Eagles will be in September when they face Guinea-Bissau in a key clash that could determine the table topper in Group A.

With 20 caps to his name, Luis Leal is the man Nigeria's defence will have to keep an eye on this afternoon. The striker plays his club football for Bolivian side Guabira and he has a knack of finding the target.

As we wait for the official starting XI for the Falcons and True Parrots, we expect Viegas who opened his account for the national team with his strike against Guinea-Bissau to spearhead the attack once again.

He should be joined in the final third by 30-year-old Valter Rocha and Bolivia-based forward Leal, while Clube Oriental de Lisboa man Joel Neves could push for a starting role in midfield.

Despite their poor defensive performance against the Djurtus, Eusebio should stick to his centre-back pairing of Vava Pequeno and former Praia Cruz man Ivonaldo Viegas, with Anastacia Braganca starting in goal.

The island nation has never faced the Super Eagles in any official football match and today will be a momentous occasion for the 200,000 plus inhabitants of Sao Tome and Principe as the face one of the biggest names in African soccer.

Moses Simon captains the team today in the absence of Watford's William Troost-Ekong who limped out of Thursday's game in Abuja with a groin issue. 

Sao Tome last recorded a win over Mauritius last March as part of a two-legged play-off to secure a place in the qualifying group stages for AFCON 23. The 1-0 home win, coupled with a 3-3 'away win' (both legs were staged in Mauritius) was enough for the islanders to advance but only after a CAF ruling sided with them after Mauritius complained about an ineligible player for The Falcons and True Parrots Team.
