Sergio Busquets has rejected several offers from Major League Soccer
The captain of FC Barcelona was approached by several clubs from MLS last summer but he turned the proposals down to remain at Camp Nou.
Since making his professional debut, Sergio Busquets has only played with FC Barcelona and he has expressed his desire of staying at Camp Nou until he retires. But, in the world of soccer, things can change quickly and the Spanish midfielder could be tempted with a move to MLS.
Busquets under contract until 2023
The 33-year-old midfielder was approached by several Major League Soccer clubs last summer but he turned down the proposals to stay in the Catalan capital. Busquets will return to Barcelona next season under manager Xavi Hernández but his contract expires in 2023.
So far there has been no talks about the LaLiga side extending Busquets’ contract beyond next year but Xavi might have the last say in the subject. The 33-year-old is a key player for Xavi in the midfield and letting him go will not sit well for the manager.
Busquets has made 47 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist. The 33-year-old is Barcelona’s first captain and he is one of the leaders of the team and remains a key figure in the dressing room, which is why it may be difficult for Xavi to let him go after the 2022/23 season.
