Inter Miami have not lost in 11 games in all competitions since the arrival of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. The three Barcelona legends have had an immediate impact on Gerardo Martino’s side as they look to secure one of the top nine playoff places this season.

Busquets happy in MLS

The former Barcelona captain has made three appearances for the side from Florida since the season resumed and has been quick to adapt, becoming a key player for Inter Miami, and still believes the team has room for improvement as the players who have recently arrived know each other so well.

Inter Miami’s unbeaten run

“Yes, that’s what we’re training for and we’ll try to achieve our goals,” the 35-year-old said after defeating LAFC on 3 September at BMO Stadium. “Eleven games without defeat is a lot, and that gives us the confidence to keep working this way.

Busquets added: “We still have a lot of room for improvement, we have to continue to get to know each other, continue to grow as a team and try not to concede. We want to generate more, have more ball possession, do more damage to the opposition, and be better positioned both in attack and defence. These are things that make a team become champions and that is what we want.”

On the overall level of MLS

“The league is looking very good. As you know it was a very attractive league for me and before arriving I was curious about being here. Well, the time has come and I reaffirmed what I saw and what I thought. It is clear that it is not at the level of Europe, but it is a league that is growing and has very good players. Younger and younger players are coming and that makes it better, it raises the level,” he concluded.
