Ecuador are beating Fiji 6-0 in today's other Group B game.

Slovakia have run out of ideas going forward and the US have not conceded at this tournament.

McGlynn's inswinger is cleared away. More pressure from the US and it is difficult to see a Slovakia equaliser at this stage.

Slovakia go short with the corner. It falls to Snajder, but his cross flies out for a goalkick. Time is ticking for Slovakia. The US lead 1-0 here in San Juan.

McGlynn's inswinging corner is headed away. It remains 1-0, with Cowell's cracker the difference between the sides in San Juan.

His effort comes crashing off the post. So close!

The ball is clipped over the top to Cowell, who looks to go around Hrdina but the Slovakian shot-stopper robs it just at the right time. 

The US defence deals with the corner from the left and hold onto their 1-0 lead for now. 

Wiley blocks the follow-up shot.

HRDINA saves!

That's an excellent save with his foot to deny Cowell his second of the match. Cowell has been so sharp throughout but sees this one stopped.

Szolgai volleys from distance and it flies just wide of the post. He already has two goals in the tournament and almost had a third there.

Ecuador are beating Fiji 4-0, so as it stands, Slovakia will finish third in the group. The US currently sit on nine points.

Slovakia deal with the threat of Cowell and Luna. Both players have been very lively and will be hoping to add a second and kill this one off.

And that really could have been 2-0 to the USA but he blazes Cowell's cross over the bar. 

The US lead 1-0 after Cowell's excellent solo goal in the first half.

Slovakia haven't caused too many problems but Slonina stands up when it counts to keep the scoreline at 1-0.

That's a wonderful save to keep Sauer's curling effort from distance out.

Cowell scores his second goal of the tournament and what a goal it is!

He has so much to do but cuts in from the left inside channel and fires a low left-footed shot home.

Ecuador have scored again! It's now Ecuador 3-0 Fiji.

Ecuador have scored a second against Fiji. That is not good news for Slovakia as things stand.

Cowell just mistimes his run and it's the right call. 0-0

Slonina saves Sauer's effort after Slovakia's free from the left spilled into the player's path. 

It's a good chance but the Chelsea shot-stopper keeps it out with ease.

What a chance for the US!

Craig goes route one and Cowell clips it over Hrdina's head... all he has to do is put it into the empty net but he somehow falls over it and the chance is gone.

Luna then comes in but sends his effort over the bar.

VARGAS!

It's more US pressure and Vargas lets fly from 25 yards out but Hrdina gets down to keep it out.

The ball comes in from the left and Che has two efforts on goal but both are saved and it remains goalless here in San Juan.

Craig's corner from the left is headed away. 

Edelman slips in Luna, who plays it over to Vargas. Luna then wins a corner for the US.

Rusnak is trying to spark fire into his troops. They've been sloppy at times and he's letting them know on the touchline.

Ecuador are ahead against Fiji, meaning Slovakia slip to third in the group and Ecuador move up to second.

Slovakia head coach Albert Rusnak has coached in Slovakia’s youth national team system since 2018. He’s also the father of Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Albert Rusnak.

The sun is starting to come out now as the US enjoy a spell of possession.

McGlynn left out

Jack McGlynn picked up a yellow card during the USA’s first two group stage matches and another caution against Slovakia would mean suspension for the USA’s Round of 16 match so he has been left out by coach Mikey Varas.

US all set

The other match in Group B today is between Ecuador and Fiji. They get underway at the same time.
 

Slovakia will be hoping to pick up points today. Their 4-0 win over Fiji was followed up by a 2-1 defeat to Ecuador.

A point here could see them through. A win would definitely take them through.

Slovakia: Rusnak in charge

Eighteen of Slovakia’s 20-man roster are based domestically, while three are based in Austria, Italy and the Netherlands.

Their head coach Albert Rusnak has coached in Slovakia’s youth national team system since 2018 having previously coached at several Slovak clubs. Rusnak is the father of Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Albert Rusnak.

Slovakia's second U-20 World Cup

This is Slovakia’s second appearance at the U-20 World Cup. Their first came in the United Arab Emirates in 2003 when they reached the Round of 16 before losing to eventual champions Brazil in extra time.

USA regulars

Goalkeeper Gaga Slonina, defenders Brandan Craig and Jonathan Gómez as well as midfielder Jack McGlynn have played all 180 minutes for the USA in Argentina.

Every player on the roster has been capped at the U-20 level. Diego Luna and McGlynn have the most having made 17 appearances thus far.

USA beat Fiji 3-0

After their 1-0 opening-day win over Ecuador, the US recorded a 3-0 win against Fiji with three second-half goals.

Second-half substitute Diego Luna found the opener in the 66th minute before Cade Cowell scored in the 88th and Caleb Wiley then netted in the ninth minute of stoppage time to secure the win.

The victory saw the side take six points from six.
