Soccer games in Spain are “like going to war” -Ancelotti

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti pointed out the difference in safety and insults in Spain as compared to other countries’ soccer stadiums.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is fed up with the racist abuse his player, Vinicius Junior, has been subject to recently. He made sure to note that “Spain isn’t racist” but that racism is still an issue in Spain.

On that note, he also emphasized that insults in general should not be tolerated in the soccer world as they seem to be “normalized” in Spain. He compared going to a game in Spain to going to a game in England:

“There are countries where you don’t get insulted. In England, they don’t insult you,” said Ancelotti. “In Premier League games, there are no police. Here [in Spain], it seems like you’re going to war. You have a van in front, a van in the back, a van on the side...what is that?”

“Fortunately, in England, this issue was resolved a long time ago, by taking drastic measures, very drastic measures.”
