Take a look at some of AS USA's related news articles:
Liverpool's Davies swaps red for blue
With Rangers expecting more than 20 million coming in for Bassey, they're looking to spend.
Although Ben Davies never actually played a competitive game for the Premier League giants, the fact that the Anfield club felt he was worth bringing in at a time of defensive crisis in 2021 (for half a million) suggests there's a decent player there.
Decent move for the lad to show his worth.
Sale-N-Pep: Cucurella cut it up one time
Zinchenko's imminent transfer to Arsenal has Manchester City looking for his replacement.
And Guardiola is said to be insisting on Brighton's Spanish full-back, Marc Cucurella.
Let's talk about all the good things, and the bad things that may be...
Chelsea close to securing Koundé
According to our very own Manu Sainz, highly rated Sevilla defender Jules Koundé is very close to a transfer to Chelsea.
"Unless there is a radical turnaround," Sainz says, "the English club expects the deal to be completed in the coming week.
Manu added that "Xavi spoke to the player and tried to convince him to go to Barça, but Chelsea were more powerful."
Bridge bids Bakayoko bye bye
French star Tiemoue Bakayoko is finally set to leave Chelsea after five years at the club.
The midfielder has agreed a deal with French Ligue1 side Marseille this summer.
The 27-year-old was a huge signing for Chelsea back in 2017 when he joined from Monaco for £40m.
Surely Bassey will clean up with Ajax
You may not be keeping a close eye on transfer movement out of the Scottish leagues but (especially given the focus on The Open moving towards its finale in St Andrews) we thought you'd want to hear about a potential new record fee in the offing.
Glasgow Rangers' Calvin Bassey shone in their run to the Europa League final last season and has chosen to join Ajax in a move that will bank the Gers over £20 million ($23.7 million).
Rangers also negotiated a 10% sell-on, with some of Europe's elite keeping a very close eye on him.
Barça to let Memphis leave
No major surprises here given the imminent arrival of Robert Lewandowski, the return of Ansu Fati and the signing of Ferran Torres in January, but Barça will let Memphis Depay leave if he so wishes this summer.
He could be quite the signing for United as well, the boy Lisandro. We'd imagine Harry Maguire is feeling a little insecure this afternoon.
Manchester United agree deal for Martínez
Ajax and Argentina defender Lisandro Martínez has been attracting interest from a number of clubs this summer but United were always confident of securing his services given his relationship with Erik ten Hag. A deal has now been put in place for the 24-year-old to move to Old Trafford, for a fee in the region of €45m.
As Barcelona prepare to seal the signing of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, we take a look at how the Blaugrana's XI is shaping up for next season.
Arsenal, Man City agree Zinchenko fee
Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal have agreed a $35m fee with Manchester City for Oleksandr Zinchenko, and that the Ukrainian international is still negotiating personal terms with the Gunners.
Romano also notes that City are looking at Brighton's former Barcelona and Getafe left-back Marc Cucurella.
Kane "a dream of the future" - Bayern chief Kahn
Speaking to Sport Bild, Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has responded to a question about a potential move for Harry Kane by referring to the Tottenham and England striker as a "dream of the future", adding: "Let's see what happens."
Lewandowski is joining Barça "on the rebound" - AS' Ruiz
AS journalist Marco Ruiz has described Robert Lewandowski’s switch to Barcelona as a “rebound” move, explaining that the Pole’s first choice was always the Catalans’ arch rivals Real Madrid.
“Lewandowski arrives at Barcelona on the rebound,” Ruiz said. “His intention has always been to join Real Madrid, and he has kept that option open right up until the last, up until it became clear to him that Madrid weren’t going to sign a striker, because Karim Benzema is right at the top of his game.
“And on top of that, Lewandowski’s second choice was Manchester City, but as they finally signed Erling Braut Haaland, it wasn’t to be.
“And his third choice was Paris Saint-Germain. He’s had major offers from PSG, but he couldn’t go there, either, because Kylian Mbappé ended up extending his contract at the club.”
If you're wondering how you can tune in to Bale and Chiellini's potential debuts for LAFC, can I suggest you take a look at our guide on to watch and stream.
Bale, Chiellini poised for LAFC debuts?
Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini could be set to make their debuts for Los Angeles FC, as Steve Cherundolo’s men visit Nashville SC in MLS on Sunday.
Both were part of the squad that travelled to Tennessee for the MLS clash, but LAFC boss Cherundolo was cagey about the pair’s potential involvement at GEODIS Park.
“Anybody who travels is ready to get minutes," he told reporters on Saturday.
"So, how probable it is? We’ll have to see. The game will dictate that, as well as the coaches. But both are in a good spot to contribute to the group.”
Lewandowski: "I'm very happy"
Today's front pages of the two Catalonia-based sports dailies, Mundo Deportivo and Sport, both lead with Robert Lewandowski letting it be known that he's "very happy" to be on his way to Barcelona.
The striker has jetted to the island of Mallorca, just off the east coast of Spain, as he prepares to complete his move to the Camp Nou.
Ibrahimovic set for Milan extension
In other news, Fabrizio Romano reports that veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is to sign a one-year extension at Serie A champions AC Milan. Ibrahimovic's new deal would take him past his 41st birthday.
Since returning to Milan in December 2019, the Swede has scored 36 goals in 74 appearances for the Rossoneri.
AS USA's Rodrigo Serrano takes a look at Barcelona's transfer spending since Lionel Messi left the Camp Nou in summer 2021.
AS USA's Rob Train discusses what shirt number Lewandowski might take at Barcelona.
"Great players have also left Bayern in the past"
Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn had this to say about Lewandowski’s move to LaLiga:
"We have agreed to release Robert Lewandowski. We have a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona, the contract is still pending. We know very well what we have to thank Robert for, but great players have also left FC Bayern in the past, and even after that, Bayern's world did not fall apart. On the contrary, it often continued with even more success."
Meanwhile, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said:
"Robert Lewandowski has done great things for FC Bayern. We spoke at length with our colleagues from Barcelona and clarified the details. He said farewell this morning. After our trip to the USA, he'll come back one more time and we'll have a coffee together. We wish him every success at his new club."
Barça confirm deal for Lewandowski
In case you missed it, Barcelona confirmed on Saturday that they have reached an "agreement in principle" with Bayern Munich over the signing of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
"The deal between the blaugranes and Bayern Munich is dependent on the player passing a medical and contracts being signed," Barça said in a statement.
The Catalans are expected to pay $45m plus a further $5m in add-ons for Lewandowski, and are to hand the 33-year-old a $9m after-tax salary.
