Update:

Four league stage matches have been played and just two remain for the teams aspiring to reach the 2027 Women’s World Cup next summer. Spain and England have a massive match coming up on Friday, June 5th with heavy World Cup qualification implications on the line.

Win and in for Lionesses

After four matches, Group A3 has England leading at the top of the table with 12 points of 12 having won all of their first four games. Spain has 9, while Iceland have 3 and Ukraine started the day with 0. Iceland and Ukraine are playing in the warm up to the primetime match up England and Spain. Both teams are heading to the playoffs with no chance of winning the group.

England and Spain kick off at 9:00 p.m. CET (3:00 p.m. ET) and England know that if they can take care of business against Spain, they can start planning their trip to Brazil next summer. They Lionesses don’t even need a win, a draw would do them just fine in assuring them the top spot in Group A3 and automatic qualification to the the World Cup in Brazil next summer.

England beat the Spanish side 1-0 back in April, so Las Rojas will need to reverse that result if they are going to have a chance at an automatic bid to the playoffs and the possibility of avoiding relegation. Should they beat England and take the tie break then it would all come down to the final match day on the 9th of June when England play Ukraine and Spain play Iceland. The match will be played in Mallorca, from the San Moix Stadium.
