Spain-Argentina Finalissima date finally becomes clearer

Spain and Argentina still have to play in the Finalissima. La Roja, the current European champions will face the Argentinian national team with the Albiceleste both current World Champions and 2023 Copa América winners. With both CONMEBOL and UEFA looking for a date in the packed schedule, it looks like the game could be finally staged in March 2026.

Scaloni’s men complete their qualifying phase for the 2026 World Cup in September of this year having already sealed their place at the 2026 World Cup. Spain, meanwhile start their campaign in a group of four alongside Turkey, Georgia, and Bulgaria in September. If La Roja qualify automatically (ie top their group) they would avoid the playoff system and the March 2026 international window would permit the Finalissima to be staged.

The last Finalissima was played in 2022 at Wembley as Argentina faced Italy, which ended with a 3-0 win for the South Americans.

The game, when it does go ahead promises to be an intriguing encounter with Luis de la Fuente’s Spain now having gone 18 consecutive matches without losing and Scaloni’s Albiceleste, have topped the FIFA ranking for two years.
