Marc-André ter Stegen has conceded his first goal from play at home in LaLiga this season.

In the ninth minute of the game against Real Madrid, defender Ronald Araújo put the ball into his own net to give Madrid the lead.

Los Blancos forward Vinícius got to the by-line and he crossed before the ball hit the Uruguayan and ended up going into the German’s net.

Ter Stegen had not conceded a single goal from play (in the league) at Camp Nou this season before tonight. The only league goal Barcelona had conceded at home this season came against Espanyol, a Joselu penalty on 31 December, in the Catalan derby.

The Blaugrana netminder was flat-footed as the ball went in off the post for an own goal to give Los Blancos the advantage.

Before today’s Clásico, Ter Stegen had recorded an incredible 19 clean sheets in 25 league games.

What is the LaLiga record for fewest goals conceded?

Not only are Barcelona on track to beat the clean-sheet record, but they could also end the season having conceded fewer goals than any side before them.

The record for the fewest goals conceded in a 38-game season is 18, held jointly by Liaño’s 1990s Deportivo side and Atlético Madrid in 2015/16.

Ahead of this weekend’s El Clásico, Barcelona conceded just eight times in 25 games, meaning they will smash the record if they continue at this rate.
