Colombian singer Feid is to star in the 2024 Copa América’s opening ceremony in Atlanta, it was confirmed this week. Hosted by the United States, the soccer tournament kicks off on Thursday 20 June, when defending champions Argentina take on Canada in the opening game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Thirty-one-year-old Feid, whose real name is Salomón Villada Hoyos, is a nine-time Latin Grammy nominee. Also known by the stage name Ferxxo, he is currently in the States for his ongoing Ferxxocalipsis concert tour, which features nearly 30 shows in the US and Canada this spring and summer.

Alejandro Domínguez, the president of CONMEBOL, South American soccer’s governing body, added: “Since we began organizing CONMEBOL Copa América 2024, we focused on involving and supporting artists like Feid, who represent the passion and dedication of South Americans.”
