The ‘Aaron Ramsey curse’ continues
Pumas midfielder Ramsey has become known for a strange phenomenon whereby a high-profile death follows shortly after he scores a goal.

Aaron Ramsey has played for some of the Premier League’s most prestigious clubs, but his name became globally recognized for something far stranger than his soccer talent. The Welsh midfielder gained notoriety for what fans dubbed the ‘Ramsey curse’ - a bizarre coincidence where a celebrity death would follow shortly after he scored a goal.
During the height of this eerie phenomenon, global icons such as Alan Rickman, Steve Jobs, Paul Walker and Robin Williams all passed away within days of Ramsey finding the back of the net. The pattern was so uncanny that it sent chills down the spines of fans and skeptics alike.
Now, it seems the so-called curse may have followed Ramsey across the Atlantic to Liga MX. Over the weekend, Ramsey scored his first goal for Pumas UNAM, and just days later, on September 4, the world learned of the death of legendary Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani at the age of 91. The timing has reignited talk of the infamous curse.
Ramsey’s goal came in dramatic fashion. In the 92nd minute of a tightly contested match against Atlas at the iconic Estadio Olímpico Universitario, he rose to the occasion like a superhero. A corner kick was whipped into the box, and Ramsey met it with a precise right-footed strike that sealed a three-point victory for Pumas.

That match took place on Sunday, August 31, and just four days later, Armani’s death was confirmed. The Italian designer, co-founder of the globally renowned Armani fashion house, passed away peacefully, according to a statement from the Armani Group.
