When are The Best FIFA Football Awards?

The eighth instalment of FIFA’s annual gala, the event will take place in London on Monday 15 January 2024. It is scheduled to begin at 2:30pm ET/11:30am PT.

How can I watch The Best FIFA Football Awards?

Who are the Best FIFA Player finalists?

The winner of the women’s Ballon d’Or in October, Barcelona’s Bonmatí is joined among the three Best Women’s Player finalists by Spain colleague Jenni Hermoso, with whom she starred in Spain’s Women’s World Cup win in July and August. Real Madrid and Colombia’s Linda Caicedo, who also excelled in Australia and New Zealand, completes the trio vying for the 2023 award.

Meanwhile, Manchester City and Norway striker Haaland is competing for Best Men’s Player against Inter Miami and Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Paris Saint-Germain and France’s Kylian Mbappé.

What is the 2023 Best FIFA Player eligibility period?

The Best FIFA Women’s Player will be awarded based on performances between 1 August 2022 and 20 August 2023, the date of the Women’s World Cup final.

The qualifying period for The Best FIFA Men’s Player ran from 19 December 2022 - the day after the men’s World Cup final - and 20 August 2023.

This explains why Messi is expected to lose out to Haaland, despite beating the Norwegian to the 2023 Ballon d’Or three months ago. While that award took the veteran’s key role in Argentina’s World Cup triumph into account, the tournament in Qatar fell into the eligibility period for 2022′s FIFA Best Men’s Player gong, which went to Messi.

What other FIFA awards will be presented?

In addition to the two Best FIFA Player prizes, the following accolades will be handed out in the UK capital: The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach, The FIFA Puskás Award, The FIFA Fair Play Award and The FIFA Fan Award.

The men’s and women’s FIFA FIFPRO World 11s will also be announced.
