The Mexican players set for 2023/24 Europa League adventures
Álvarez will be playing in the Europa League with the Hammers, who were placed in Group A.
Four Mexican players will participate in this year’s Europa League, and on Friday they learned their fate in the competition. Below we explain the outlook for each of them.
Edson Álvarez | West Ham
The midfielder recently arrived in the city of London to join West Ham and Álvarez has started well under David Moyes. He will be playing in the Europa League with the Hammers, who were placed in Group A along with Olympiacos, Freiburg and Backa Topola.
Orbelín Pineda and Rodolfo Pizarro | AEK Athens
In Greece, there is also Mexican representation, with Orbelín Pineda and Rodolfo Pizarro at AEK Athens. AEK were drawn in Group B alongside Ajax, Marseille and Brighton.
Andrés Guardado | Real Betis
Guardado plies his trade at Spanish club Real Betis, who are in Group C with Rangers, Sparta Prague and Aris Limassol.
When does the Europa League start?
The Europa League will start on Thursday, September 21, with the final being held at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland on May 22, 2024.
