The one way AC Milan could lose Christian Pulisic to a top Premier League club
USMNT star Pulisic is thought to be close to a contract extension in Milan, although top Premier League clubs are showing interest.
Christian Pulisic’s contract extension with AC Milan is almost a done deal as ‘Captain America’ continues to trend upwards in the one of the fashion captials of the world.
When fully fit, the USMNT winger has been an undisputed key player for the Italian giants, first under Stefano Pioli and now under Paulo Fonseca. His performances have been so outstanding that Premier League clubs have considered taking him back to England. However, Milan aren’t entertaining any offers for their star man. Pulisic will stay with the Rossoneri until 2029, barring any surprises.
How much Premier League clubs would have to pay Milan for Pulisic
The former Chelsea attacker feels at home in Milan, having adapted well to both Serie A and the lifestyle in the city. West Ham, Manchester United and even leaders Liverpool have unofficially explored the possibility of a return to the Premier League.
Although Pulisic still has a desire to succeed in England, he has put any plans to return on hold for now. If he were to leave, Milan would only consider offers above $65 million, well above his market value.
The seven-time European champions have gone all out to ensure Pulisic stays put. Milan sporting director Geoffrey Moncada is fully backing the 26-year-old to lead the team forward and for good reason.
Pulisic becomes key player for AC Milan
The American became one of Mialn’s standout players, if not the standout player, last season. His 15 goals and 11 assists in 2023/24 established him as one of the most impactful players on the Rossoneri roster. Few have enjoyed such an impressive debut season for the club. This season, if injuries permit, he is expected to surpass those numbers.
In less than six months, Pulisic turned his career around in remarkable fashion. His signing was controversial, and understandably so. His difficult years with Chelsea, where he only found some consistency in the 2019/20 season, had hindered a career that had previously been destined for stardom. Moncada did not hesitate to take a chance on him when almost everyone else had written him off. For a bargain price of just $22 million, Milan considered his signing a steal. And Pulisic has proven them correct.
Until his injury earlier this month, the American was well on track to improve on his figures from last season. According to BeSoccer, he was already exceeding stats in successful dribbles (3.96 per game), key passes (0.44 per game), and fouls drawn (1.4 per game).
‘Captain America’ vital for Champions League push
Pulisic is expected to return to action in early 2025, fully recovered and at a critical moment for the Rossoneri. With the team all the way down in eighth place in Serie A and with little hope of competing for the title, Fonseca needs him more than ever.
As it stands, Milan are 14 points behind leaders Atalanta and even clinching a Champions League spot for next season will be a tall order. If they are to challenge for a top-four spot, an in-form Pulisic will be crucial in the second half of the season.
