“The Spanish league has a racism problem” -Ancelotti

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti pointed to LaLiga as the root problem behind ongoing racism that Vini Jr. and others have experienced within the league.

An unfortunate incident of racism targeted at Real Madrid’s Vinicus Jr. at their game against Valencia FC on Sunday was one of several. Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is fed up with the issue, citing LaLiga as the root of the problem but saying they refuse to admit it or face it directly.

“They should have suspended the match then and there. It wasn’t one person. It was a whole stadium that went crazy,” said Ancelotti. “I had never before seen a whole stadium being racist. Maybe I’ve seen a few people being racist, but I had never seen that from a whole stadium.

The racism was so bad that Vinicius was eventually sent off the field in the final minutes.

“I spoke with [Vinicius] during the game because the atmosphere was really bad,” said Ancelotti. “I asked him if he wanted to be replaced because I thought, I need to take him out because it’s a racist atmosphere. I don’t think that’s good. You need to take a player off the field because of racism - that’s never happened to me.”

“This is not acceptable. The Spanish league has a problem,” Ancelotti continued. “It’s not Vinicus. He’s a victim of a huge problem.”
