Despite being linked with the job at OGC Nice, Bologna manager Thiago Motta would prefer a return to Paris Saint-Germain, report L’Équipe.

Head coach Didier Digard could leave Nice at the end of the season, and the Ligue 1 outfit are believed to be considering a move for Motta. There hasn’t, however, been any contact between the parties yet and Motta would reportedly favour a move to the Parc des Princes.

Motta, 40, has a good relationship with PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi, but there have been reports that the club’s hierarchy will look to appoint a head coach with a greater profile to manage Kylian Mbappé and Co going forward.

Motta is Al Khelaifi’s ideal candidate and a year ago, just before Mauricio Pochettino’s dismissal, he contacted Motta to replace the Argentine tactician, however, the decision was left to sporting advisor Luis Campos, who decided to hand the reins to Christophe Galtier, a coach he worked with closely at Lille.

Galtier’s future at PSG in the air

Motta, who previously managed the PSG U19 team, has a contract with Serie A side Bologna until the summer of 2024 and it remains to be seen who PSG will appoint as Christophe Galtier’s replacement. Motta’s Bologna currently sit in 10th place in the Italian top flight.

Current AS Roma boss José Mourinho has been mentioned as another possible candidate to take over from Galtier in the French capital.
