As is usual when the summer appears closer, the name of Lionel Messi begins to circulate and become linked with a possible PSG exit. Recently, the conversation has turned to that of Inter Miami, and playing in MLS, as the team are looking for every possible way of bringing in the World Cup champion.

Regarding that possibility, L’Équipe highlighted two factors that would be key in taking Messi out of Europe and into the US this summer. On one hand, there is the new television deal that MLS struck with Apple, as this agreement will bring a lot and benefit the league with $2.5 billion. This money could well be used in a potential deal with the Argentina captain.

The 2026 World Cup could be key

As well as this cash injection, the French newspaper also chose to mention the 2026 World Cup, which could well play in MLS’ favour. As we all know, the tournament will be played in the US, Mexico and Canada, something that would be seen as much more attractive were Messi playing in the country. Despite the fact that Messi said Qatar was to be his last World Cup, the potential of playing the tournament in the country where he would be living could cause him to rethink his idea.

Jorge Mas and David Beckham consider Messi’s arrival a priority

As well as these factors, the agent Jerome Meary was interviewed by L’Équipe as a part of the Messi-dedicated piece, in which he said that, according to his sources, Jorge Mas and David Beckham are both working tirelessly to bring the player to the league.

“His transfer is a priority for Jorge Mas. They spoke before Messi went to PSG. The conversations started up again recently and Mas spent time with Messi during the World Cup”, said Meary.
