USA, preferred summer destination for Euro giants..Madrid, Juve, City, Barça...
Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, City, Chelsea and Arsenal are just some of the high profile European soccer teams planning pre-season matches in the United States.
This summer, with stadium pandemic restrictions a thing of the past, the USA will see a host of high profile European soccer visit the ‘Old Continent’ as the States and its ever growing soccer culture becomes one of the leading destination for many teams and their pre-season preparation.
The Las Vegas ‘El Clasico’ will undoubtedly steal all the limelight as once again, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will play out their rivalry on North American soil.
Vegas will host the contest between Merengues and Blaugranas on 24 July with the last US-based contract between both LaLiga giants coming back in 2017 in the city of Miami where Real Madrid won 3-2 against the Catalan outfit.
US invasion
Both Bayern Munich and Manchester City will make history with the first soccer match to be held at the 81,000 capacity Lambeau Field stadium in Green Bay, Wisconsin, home to the NFL side Green Bay Packers with the game taking a day before the Vegas ‘Clasico’.
In Florida, David Beckham’s Inter Miami will face Barcelona with the contest between the MLS side and the Catalans scheduled for 19 July. A day later, Chelsea will face Charlotte FC, the league’s latest expansion franchise, and DC United will take on Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Orlando City and New York Red Bulls will be the other two teams in the North American league to face the big European sides as Oscar Pareja’s side will take on Arsenal on 20 July, while the New York Red Bulls will face FC Barcelona on 30 July.
Two Mexican clubs have also been invited to play friendly matches in the United States. Club America will have two matches against Chelsea and Manchester City, while Chivas Guadalajara will take on Italian Serie A side Juventus.
