The United States men’s national team is going big for the upcoming FIFA World Cup after not qualifying four years ago. The majority of the players and coaching staff arrived in Qatar over the weekend and they brought along with a host of staff who will be at hand for all off-field needs - including a barber who they have been flying to all their camps.

The squad’s personal barber arrived at the team’s camp on Monday and the USMNT are also flying in an Italian chef that they met in El Salvador during last year’s qualifiers. That game was played at Estadio Cuscatlán and ended in a 0-0 draw, not an ideal result for Gregg Berhalter’s men.

How did the USMNT meet the chef?

After their first initial meeting in September of 2021, the USMNT had to return to El Salvador on 14 June of this year for matchday 4 of the CONCACAF Nations League. This time the USMNT met up with chef Giulio Caccamo for the second time and invited him to cook for the squad during their time in Qatar for the World Cup finals.

The relationship became so strong that in July of this year, US Soccer made him the executive chef for the USMNT. The United States will make their World Cup debut on 21 November against Wales in their return to the tournament for the first time in eight years.
