The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to start on November 20 and the United States men’s national team became the first team to arrive at Qatar. This is the first time in eight years since the USMNT participated in the event and the expectation grows for the ‘golden generation’ to make it past the group stage for the third consecutive time.

The USMNT landed in Doha

The United States will face Wales, England and Iran during the group stage and they will make their debut on November 21 against the Dragons. The USMNT traveled from New York after their head coach confirmed the 26-player roster that will be participating in Qatar for the next two months.

Gregg Berhalter, Walker Zimmerman, Aaron Long, Shaq Moore, Jordan Morris, Kellyn Acosta, Jes Ferreira, DeAndre Yedlin, and Cristian Roldán landed in Doha on Saturday and they rest of the players from Europe’s top-tier will join the rest of the team this weekend. Meanwhile, the group will continue training ahead of their opening game against Wales.

According to Google, the United States men’s national team is favorite to beat the Dragons in the opening match of Group B. The search engine enabled a tool that predicts the result of each match and the USMNT is expected to defeat the Dragons and eventually advance to the Round of 16.

The United States has a 37% chance to defeat Wales according to Google and a 31% chance that the game ends in a tie. The game against England on November 25 will be more complicated because Google predicts that the USMNT has a 17% chance to defeat the Three Lions. The last match of the group stage is against Iran and the United States has a 45% chance to win the three points and secure their spot in the next round.
