Thierry Henry on which team Zidane will be managing next
The former Arsenal and France legend thinks his former teammate will be managing a national team after taking a sabbatical.
There have been hints that Zinedine Zidane would be the main candidate to take over the Juventus coaching job if the people in charge decided to part ways with Massimiliano Allegri due to the poor results in the Serie A and UEFA Champions League so far this season. But former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has a very different take on what might be the next steps for the France and Real Madrid legend. Henry says that Zidane should be waiting to receive an offer from the French national team after the conclusion of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“Zizou won the Champions League, Zizou proved that he can go [to Juventus]. He has proved he can win at a big club. I’m not going to go there [If Zidane can win at Juventus]. I think he’s waiting for the national team [France]. So I’m not going to go there,” said Henry to CBS Sports.
“I don’t think he will go there [Juventus]. I think he is waiting for one thing and one thing only. The national team. He won three Champions Leagues with Real Madrid. Why are you going to bother with other clubs when you can have a national team? I wouldn’t.
“He’s been linked to a lot of clubs and it never happened. I don’t think Zizou would want to do it but this is me talking. Maybe he does want to do it. But I can see him waiting for the national team and it would make total sense,” said Henry when asked about his former teammate’s future as a head coach.
Zidane is ready to go back to work
Earlier this year, Didier Deschamps announced that he will part ways with the France national team following the 2022 FIFA World Cup and his replacement has not been announced yet. So it seems that Zidane is ready to return to work after leaving the Real Madrid coaching job in 2021 and taking a sabbatical.
