Tigres boss Cocca sold club to me, says new signing Gorriarán
Former Santos Laguna midfielder Fernando Gorriarán says he is eager to play his part in a successful Tigres side.
With a little less than a month to go before the start of the Clausura 2023 tournament, Liga MX clubs continue to strengthen their squads. At Tigres, Fernando Gorriarán has been added to the ranks.
And the Uruguayan midfielder says his decision to move from Santos Laguna is in no small part thanks to the work that Diego Cocca, the club’s new head coach, put in to persuade him to join.
Gorriarán targeting Tigres success
Speaking after arriving in Nuevo León, Gorriarán also expressed his desire to achieve big things with Tigres. “I’m going to do my best for the shirt, for these colours,” he said. “I’m going to defend them as if they were mine for the rest of my life. Hopefully we can enjoy plenty of success together.”
In the Liga MX Apertura 2022 tournament, Gorriarán reached the playoff quarter-finals with Santos, Los Guerreros losing 6-4 on aggregate to eventual runners-up Toluca.
Tigres preparations in full swing
As Tigres prepare for the Clausura 2023, Los Universitarios have travelled to Mexico’s Riviera Maya, where Cocca’s men completed a triple training session on Saturday.
As part of their preseason, the team will take part in the Copa Sky. They are to play their first game of the tournament against Mazatlán.
