Tigres set to face LAFC in the 2023 Campeones Cup: date, venue, kick-off time
After beating Pachuca in the Campeon de Campeones Cup, Tigres will now face MLS champions LAFC in the Campeones Cup.
After beating Pachuca last weekend in the Campeon de Campeones Cup, Tigres have their eye on yet more silverware as they now face 2022 MLS Champions LAFC in September.
This one-off Campeones Cup final will be played at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, home of the ‘black and gold’ and will take place on Wednesday, September 27 at 8:00 p.m. (PT) / 5:00 pm (ET).
It will be the second time that Tigres plays in this final as the winners from MLS play against the winners from tye Apertura/Clausura final with the Nuevo Leon side participating in the inaugural edition of the cup in 2018 with the same base of players such as Nahuel Guzmán, Rafael Carioca, Guido Pizarro and André-Pierre Gignac, led by “Tuca” Ferretti, beating Toronto FC.
The Campeones Cup was created five years ago as a joint initiative between MLS and Liga MX for teams from both countries to compete against each other. The 2020 edition was canceled due to the pandemic and the opening final in 2018 edition won by Tigres. The other three editions were won by MLS sides (Atlanta United, Columbus Crew and New York City FC).
