Time and date for Kylian Mbappé's Real Madrid LaLiga debut confirmed
LaLiga have published the time and dates for the first round of fixtures ahead of the 2024-25 season with all eyes on Mbappe’s first game in white Madrid jersey.
With still well over a month to go before the new season starts and the focus of the footballing world firmly fixed on Euro 2024 and the Copa America, LaLiga have published the times and dates for the first round of games for the 24-25 campaign.
Kylian Mbappé will make his debut in Mallorca for Real Madrid with the kick-off confirmed for Sunday, 18 August 18 at 9:00 p.m. local time (3pm ET). The LaLiga action gets underway on Thursday, 15 August in San Mamés as Athletic face Getafe. The opening weekend fixtures conclude on Monday the 19th, with Simeone’s Atletico Madrid taking on Villarreal.
Hansi Flick’s debut with Barcelona is earmarked for Saturday the 17th, when he takes his side to Mestalla to face Valencia, at 9:30 p.m. (3:30 pm ET).
The first round of games will run over a five day period in mid August which is generally the time the bulk of Spaniards make for the local beaches but it’s not anticipated that the Thursday night game will be a regular slot during the new season.
It’s still anticipated that Mbappé will be unveiled by Real Madrid on 16 July when the curtain comes down on the current European Championship which is being staged in Germany. France, who finished second in Group D behind Austria now face Romania in the Round of 16 but Didier Deschamps’ side have to yet to fulfil their pre-tournament tag as clear favourites with just two goals in three games.
