Tottenham potential replacements for Igor Tudor should Spurs make move before end of season

Igor Tudor finally earned a point as interim manager of Tottenham, but the draw at Anfield may not be enough to salvage his job until the end of the season.

Tottenham earned their first point under interim manager Igor Tudor and their first point in the Premier League since February 1, but these are dire times at White Hart Lane, and one point may not be enough to keep the Croatian manager around for much longer.

Dyche the man for the job says Bent

Reports coming out of North London claim that the club could be ready to make a move on the touchline before the season comes to an end. They are in the middle of a race against relegation with eight matches to go. They are sitting in 16th, just one point above the relegation zone, and if results don’t turnaround quick it might be too little too late for Spurs.

According to former Spurs striker Darren Bent, one name stands out as a potential candidate to replace Tudor immediately. “I’ve said it before. (Sean) Dyche,” claimed Bent on talkSPORT Drive. “If you’re Tottenham, he’s free, he’s got no job. Go and get him.”

Dyche spent time as manager at Nottingham Forest early this year after replace Ange Postecoglou in October. Forest didn’t do much better under Dyche, winning just six of the 18 matches in the Premier League and was let go in February.

Tudor lost squad long ago

The former center-back has experience, and has had success in salvation races before in his time at Burnley and Everton. Bent thinks it’s a better option than Tudor who has shown he has lost control the dressing room over the last few weeks. “That’s why I’ve come on here and repeatedly said three games is enough. He’s not getting anything out of the players whatsoever. Now he’s probably lost them fully, because they’re like, ‘Look what you did to one of our teammates.’”

Bent was referring to the Champions League match against Atletico de Madrid when Tudor took a chance with reserve keeper Antonin Kinsky and substituted him off after 17 minutes, with Spurs down 3-0 in the Spanish capital. The result at the Metropolitano apparently had the Tottenham board set for a swap after the Liverpool match, and the draw at Anfield still may not be enough to save Tudor from getting the axe.

TalkSPORT named a few other managers that could be up for the job, but perhaps not in the immediate future. One of those managers was Mauricio Pochettino who is prepping the United States for the World Cup this summer. Other candidates are Harry Redknapp, Robbie Keane, Roberto De Zerbi and Ryan Mason. Of the potential candidates only Keane and Pochettino are currently coaching teams, with Keane currently in Hungary with NB I club Ferencvaros.
