Tuca Ferretti: Miguel Herrera will not be the next Mexico manager
Mexico want to appoint a new manager but according to Ferretti, Herrera will not be the chosen one.
The Mexico national team will soon have a new manager but it won’t be Miguel Herrera, according to Tuca Ferretti.
Although Herrera was one of the favourites to take over El Tri, it now appears that he won’t be returning to the role he worked in from 2013 to 2015.
The 54-year-old was recently in charge of Tigres and is expected to return to management soon, but perhaps not with Mexico, as they look to find a replacement for Tata Martino after the 2022 World Cup.
Ferretti says Herrera is ruled out of Mexico role
Ferretti caused a surprise on the Futbol Picante programme and Mexican television by calling Álvaro Morales to talk about the Mexico national team without realising he was live on air. “Miguel Herrera is not going to be [the coach of El Tri],” Ferretti said.
He added: “There are no candidates, there are offers. If you do an interview, you become a candidate [for the job]”.
