Tuchel’s last words: “I didn’t see it coming”
After Chelsea lost to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions league, manager Thomas Tuchel was fired. Here’s what he had to say.
“I didn’t see it coming...”
Thomas Tuchel was fired as head coach of Chelsea FC after losing to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Tuchel has been having a rough go lately, saying his team needs to play tougher. After the loss to Dinamo Zagreb, he said he was angry, because he thought the last game against West Ham would have helped them.
“I’m angry at myself,” said Tuchel. “I’m angry about our performance. It’s not precise enough, it’s not clinical enough, it’s not aggressive enough on the ball, it’s not determined enough, it’s not enough individually, it’s not good enough as a team. And that’s why we lost the game today.”
The loss to Dinamo Zagreb was Tuchel’s 100th game with Chelsea. The Blues only conceded 24 goals in Tuchel’s first 50 games, while in his last 50, they conceded 53 goals.
“We had good training sessions. I thought the team was prepared,” said Tuchel. “I thought we knew what this is all about. I didn’t see it coming. That’s why I’m angry with myself.”
