With little less than a month before the start of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams, set off alarm bells after missing Leed’s Premier League meeting with Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Adams did not appear in Jesse Marsch’s initial XI - a surprising omission as he is an undisputed starter for the coach. Minutes later, Leeds announced that the American had suffered a minor injury before the start of the game.

Leeds ended losing the game 2-3, a result which worsens an already complicated situation. After a great start to the competition, they gone six games without a win and have dropped back into the relegation zone.

Key player for Berhalter

Adams’ injury is tough on Jesse Marsch’s side, and it’s worrying for the national team. Tyler Adams is almost like a captain without an armand for the USMNT, an indispensable piece for coach Gregg Berhalter.

Adams could return mid-week when Leeds visit Liverpool, but for now, medical staff will be working on finding out more about his injury and what treatment he will require.

Berhalter hopes that Adams’ injury is not serious so that he can count on the midfielder for the United States’ debut in the World Cup on 21 November against Wales.
