Leeds United player Tyler Adams has been voted USA Male Player of the Year after captaining the USMNT at the 2022 World Cup to close off an excellent year for club and country. Nominated by his US national team peers to wear the armband in Qatar, the midfielder led the USMNT to the Round of 16 where they fell short against the Netherlands. Before securing the move to the Premier League club, Adams won the German Cup with former side RB Leipzig and has impressed with Leeds since making the move to the Yorkshire club last summer on a five-year deal.

“Receiving this type of recognition is certainly special, but for me the team’s success is the most important thing,” Adams said. “Having the experience of going to the World Cup, performing well as a group and moving the sport forward in the United States was super important to me this year, and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.”
