United States - Brazil: Confirmed USMNT lineup and team news
Gregg Berhalter’s team are under pressure to bounce back from a 5-1 loss to Colombia as they continue their Copa América preparations.
The United States will take on Brazil in the last of their pre-tournament friendlies ahead of Copa América. As hosts, USMNT have home advantage this summer but they are already looking to rebuild confidence after a disappointing 5-1 loss to Colombia last weekend.
Head coach Gregg Berhalter named a full-strength team for the visit of Colombia but his side were comprehensively outplayed, conceding three goals in the final 15 minutes as they tried, and failed, to play out from the back. With the start of Copa América now just a week away Berhalter has very little time to get his team in order before their tournament opener against Bolivia.

Can USMNT beat Brazil?
If any USMNT fans were nervous going into this summer’s Copa América, their first pre-tournament friendly against Colombia will not have calmed those nerves. Colombia are on an impressive unbeaten run but Brazil boast a much more complete squad, with Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes expected to lead the line.
But despite USMNT’s late capitulation last weekend this is also one of the most talented groups of American players ever assembled. There is a sense that Berhalter needs a solid performance this summer to retain his job ahead of the 2026 World Cup on home soil. Speaking to reporters this week he insisted that he would not deviate from his long-term goals with the team.
“We want to gain information on both Brazil and our own players, so we have to be brave and we have to continue with our plan,” he explained. “Obviously a lot of pressure from the outside after a 5-1 defeat at home but for us, again, it’s about preparing this group for Copa América.”
The good news for the US is that the team’s group stage opponents - Bolivia, Panama, Uruguay - will provide them the opportunity to pick up points in their opening games and build into the tournament. Berhalter will be targeting a fast start in the opener against Bolivia to set this shaky USMNT team on their way.
