Real Madrid put tickets on general sale this Friday for the biggest game in Spanish football, El Clásico, with Barcelona visiting the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday 26 October. Although only non-season ticket holders can purchase tickets, the virtual queue to of fans trying to buy them had hit almost 1.1 million by 11:00 hours local time this morning.

Hours queuing for El Clásico tickets

The cheapest tickets cost 130 euros for the general public - but even at that price, demand is higher than ever. Millions of people have been patiently waiting, in some cases for several hours to have the chance to watch the match between Ancelotti’s Madrid and Flick’s Barça in person, from the stands.

Both teams return to action this weekend after a couple of weeks off for the international break. Real Madrid travel to Vigo to take on ninth-placed Celta on Saturday while Barcelona are at home to Sevilla the following day. Barca currently top the standings on 24 points - just three ahead of Madrid.

The Week 11 clash against Barça will be the second consecutive game for Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabéu. On Tuesday 22nd they will welcome Borussia Dortmund to their stadium in a repeat of last season’s Champions League final at Wembley which Ancelotti’s men won 0-2 with goals from Carvajal and Vinicius.
