Update:

There’s no stopping Mohamed Salah and Liverpool. The Egyptian star was the match-winner for Arne Slot’s team against Bournemouth on Saturday (February 1), scoring twice in a 2-0 win that moved The Reds nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Salah’s double took him to 21 league goals in 2024/25, three clear of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, who has been unable to keep up his superb early season form.

It means the 32-year-old has now scored at least 20 Premier League goals in five different seasons since moving to Liverpool in 2017. He has only (just) failed to do so three times, in 2019/20, 2022/23 and 2023/24.

Which players have scored 20+ Premier League goals at least five times?

Only four other players in the history of the Premier League, since it was founded in 1992, have achieved that same feat.

Alan Shearer was first to do so, scoring 20+ league goals on seven occasions for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United between 1993/94 and 2003/04.

Former Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero (between 2011/12 and 2018/19) and ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane (between 2014/15 and 2022/23) both reached or surpassed 20 goals six times, with Thierry Henry matching that achievement in five consecutive seasons for Arsenal (2001/02 to 2005/06).
