Manchester City led by a single goal at the break after an own goal on the stroke of half-time from Urawa Reds defender Marius Hoibraten. The second-half goals came from Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva with City in full control and booking their place in the Club World Cup final on Friday. Fluminense of Brazil will be City's opponents as Pep Guardiola's side look to win their fifth title of the year.

Success on Friday would see City lift a fifth title of the year, but they will have to get past Brazilian outfit Fluminense first.

A few Manchester City fans have made the trip to Saudi Arabia for the possibility of seeing their team lift another title in 2023. 

Urawa Reds know this one is over - it's clearly visible in the players' body language.

City changes

It's time for fresh legs.

City are toying with their Japanese opponents now and you can feel a fourth goal coming. Gvardiol runs from full-back - without any pressure - before passing to Grealish, but the move eventually breaks down.

Kyle Walker goes down holding his foot. A few seconds later, he hobbles away and should be ok. That would be the last thing Pep Guardiola needs with his side being somewhat leaky in the Premier League.

Bobb is involved again. He glides past his man and crosses low as he runs past the byline. The Urawa Reds backline manages to clear the danger and it remains 3-0 to City.

The left-footed strike from just inside the area goes the wrong side of the near post.

This is, of course, Manchester City's debut at FIFA’s global club tournament after the Manchester club won their first ever Champions League title in June when they beat Inter.

City move one step closer to Friday's Club World Cup final.

Kovacic bursts through the middle and buries it past Nishikawa with a fine finish into the roof of the net to double City's lead.

Marius Hoibraten scored the only goal of the game so far. The Norwegian put the ball into his own net to break the deadlock and give City the lead.

I don't have any half-time changes to report. Both coaches keep their starting elevens as they were.

If City do win the Club World Cup it will be their fifth trophy of 2023.

Manchester City lead 1-0 if you're only just joining our live coverage. The European champions had the majority of the possession in the opening 45' and their pressure finally paid off. 

Fluminense of Brazil will take on the winners of this one in the final on Friday.

The pressure had been mounting and City take the lead in Jeddah.

A group of Urawa Reds make some noise behind the goal as their keeper takes the goalkick. They will be delighted with how the game is going. 

It remains scoreless as we approach half-time in Saudi Arabia.

Kovacic sends a deep ball into the box but it heads out for a goalkick.

Bernardo Silva has been everywhere... left wing, right wing, through the middle. He covers so much ground.

Erling Haaland's face comes up on the big screen - he notices himself and smiles and waves - as the crowd cheers for the Norwegian striker.

Nishikawa parries away his shot from 20 yards out. He definitely has been the busier keeper today but it remains scoreless in Jeddah as Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku watch on.

Grealish gets fed again on the left and wins yet another corner for Guardiola's side in the Saudi heat.

Nishikawa pushes his effort from eight yards over the bar.

The pressure is really building now.

It's all City but the Japanese side are defending as well as they can.

It's that man from distance again. The shot from 20 yards is deflected out for a corner. 

Grealish's corner is eventually punched away as it curls into the six-yard box.

Akanji is booked for a foul on Yasui. It's the first booking of the night.

Urawa Reds have set up with two very compact lines of four as they look to keep City out. The European champions have not had any clearcut chances thus far. 0-0

Ken Iwao slides across to win the ball. It goes out for a City corner on the right.

Matheus Nunes crosses but it's headed away by Sekine. 

Phil Foden is playing as a false 9 but most of the play has come through Jack Grealish. Regular striker Erling Haaland is not in the squad and Julián Álvarez is on the bench.

Urawa Reds goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa is playing in his third FIFA Club World Cup. He's now 37.

Grealish is involved once again on the left flank. He cuts in onto his right foot, picking out on the onrushing Bernardo Silva, who fires an effort over from the edge of the area. City continue to threaten and look for the opener. 0-0

City get down the left. Grealish links up with Bernardo Silva before shooting from just inside the area. The ball is eventually blocked. Urawa Reds are defending deeply for now.

Many have questioned whether City have become complacent after winning the treble last season. They currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League.

Guardiola is looking for his 16th trophy with Manchester City. He's only two games away from this one but Urawa Reds are hoping to cause an upset today.

City have only won one of their last six Premier League games but do remain heavy favourites to advance to the Club World Cup final.

Phil Foden is taking up the central attacking role for City. Erling Haaland is not in the squad as he recovers from injury.
