Update:

For the second time ever, the United States will stage a World Cup tournament with the 2026 edition set to be co-hosted with Canada and Mexico.

Many soccer fans however remember the first time when the US welcomed the global soccer community for the 1994 World Cup with Brazil prevailing in the final against Italy after a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

Diana Ross performing at the opening ceremony, Striker the mascot, the heat of Miami and Maradona’s last dance on the big stage are all some of the lasting memories from the 1994 event.

The 94 World Cup marked the fourth appearance of the USMNT at the FIFA tournament and memories of the infamous ‘denim’ jersey being sported by the likes of Tab Ramos, John Harkes and Alexi Lalas remain fondly in the minds of many US soccer fans.

Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Adidas have launched a new 2026 x 1994 away remake jersey which faithfully recreates the original 1994 kit design, featuring the faux-denim texture and the massive, distorted white stars floating across the fabric. However with Nike the current US soccer kit supplier, the Adidas jersey removes federation identifiers, making it an elegant lifestyle remake.
