USA vs El Salvador: head-to-head record

Following Friday’s 7-1 win against Grenada, the US Men’s National Team take on El Salvador in the Concacaf Nations League on Monday 27 March.

All-time head-to-head between USA and El Salvador

The USA are on a 21-game unbeaten streak against El Salvador which dates back to 1993. The current record stands at 19-1-7 against Los Cuscatlecos, with their home record 16-0-2.

El Salvador’s only win over the US was a 2-0 friendly victory in San Salvador over 30 years ago, in February 1992.

Last meeting between the sides

The sides last met in the CNL Group D match on 14 June 2022, when Gregg Berhalter’s side came from behind to draw 1-1.

Alexander Latin put the home side in front before half-time. In the second half, Luca de la Torre and Jordan Morris linked up to draw to the USA level late on, with Morris heading home the equaliser.

Recent matches

On 27 January 2022, the USA beat El Salvador thanks to an Antonee Robinson goal in a 1-0 win.

On 2 September 2021, the sides played out a 0-0 draw at Estadio Cuscatlán. On the same day, 12 players make their World Cup qualifying debuts: Brendan Aaronson, Tyler Adams, Konrad de la Fuente, Sergiño Dest, Weston McKennie, Jordan Pefok, Gio Reyna, Antonee Robinson, Miles Robinson, Cristian Roldan, Josh Sargent and Matt Turner.

USA top of Group D

The USA are top of the Nations League A Group D group with seven points. El Salvador have five points in second place, meaning the US can secure a spot in June’s semi-finals with a draw on Monday 27 March.

By finishing in the top two in Group D, El Salvador have booked their place at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.
