The United States Men´s National Team return to action later this month with a friendly against Slovenia.

Gregg Berhalter has selected a roster of MLS-based players, with the intention of giving new faces a chance to show their potential. MLS is still in the off-season but the European leagues are still in the midst of their campaigns, meaning that Berhalter has not selected any players from outside the United States.

In previous January camps the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Walker Zimmerman have made their first steps into the senior national team squad. This time around young stars like Aziel Jackson (St. Louis City), Diego Luna (Real Salt Lake) and Bernard Kamungo (FC Dallas) may have their first opportunities to play for USMNT.

Who is in the USMNT roster?

Berhalter´s roster to take on Slovenia has been selected with one eye on this summer´s Olympics. The soccer competition at the 2024 Games requires a predominantly Under-23 roster and much of the squad named for the January fixture satisfies that criteria.

Here´s the full 25-man squad named by Berhalter...

Goalkeepers

Drake Callender (Inter Miami), Roman Celentano (FC Cincinnati), Patrick Schulte (Columbus Crew)

Defenders

Nathan Harriel (Philadelphia Union), DeJuan Jones (New England Revolution), Shaq Moore (Nashville SC), Ian Murphy (FC Cincinnati), Jackson Ragen (Seattle Sounders), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati), James Sands (New York City FC), Nkosi Tafari (FC Dallas), John Tolkin (New York Red Bulls), Caleb Wiley (Atlanta United)

Midfielders

Joshua Atencio (Seattle Sounders), Aziel Jackson (St. Louis City), Jack McGlynn (Philadelphia Union), Aidan Morris (Columbus Crew), Timmy Tillman (LAFC), Sean Zawadzki (Columbus Crew)

Attackers

Esmir Bajraktarevic (New England Revolution), Cade Cowell (San Jose Earthquakes), Bernard Kamungo (FC Dallas), Diego Luna (Real Salt Lake), Duncan McGuire (Orlando City), Brian White (Vancouver Whitecaps)

When is the next USMNT fixture?

Players arrived for the training camp in Orlando on 8 January and are expected to stay in Florida until 16 January. The upcoming USMNT vs Slovenia clash will take place on Saturday 20 January. Toyota Field in San Antonio, Texas will play host for the friendly international.

Kick-off is set for 3:00pm (ET) / 12:00pm (PT).

MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew and Supporters´ Shield winners FC Cincinnati each have three players in the USMNT roster. Ahead of the game Berhalter described the January training camp and fixture as a chance for younger players to impress ahead of a busy year of international soccer.

This is an opportunity to identify and work with the next generation of players who have the potential to make an impact on our program,” the USMNT head coach said. “Our priority is on getting as many players as possible experience in important competitions, and this camp and the match against Slovenia will be extremely valuable in the evaluation process.”
