Following the completion of the three matchdays of the group stage, the matchups for the quarterfinals of the 2024 Women’s Gold Cup are now lined up. Exciting clashes await in the first knockout round featuring the top eight teams, and we provide all the details for the matches scheduled to commence from Saturday 2 March, and who the women from the United States will face.

While it is true that one of the biggest surprises was Mexico topping Group A over Twila Kilgore’s team, the USWNT players must now turn the page and focus on their upcoming opponents. They will face Colombia in the prime-time slot on Sunday 3 March. This matchup arises from their respective placements at positions 4 and 5 in the overall standings, a somewhat more difficult challenge than the expectation of finishing first and playing eighth.

Linda Caicedo and her teammates promise to pose a considerable obstacle to the Americans, and in this elimination round, another setback for The Stars and Stripes could unfold. As a reference point, the Colombian squad reached the quarterfinals in the 2023 Australia-New Zealand World Cup. In October, these two engaged in a couple of friendlies that ended with scores of 0-0 and 3-0 in favor of the USWNT.

The other quarterfinal matchups feature Canada vs Costa Rica, Brazil vs Argentina, and Mexico vs Paraguay, in three encounters that promise to be thrilling beyond measure at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

While the Group A matches of the tournament were the only ones played in the LA metropolitan area, now the rest of the teams will have to travel to play at the home venues of Angel City FC (NWSL) and LAFC (MLS).
