Veracruz players finally receive outstanding wages
The Mexican Professional Players Association was key to settling debts with several of Veracruz’s first team players.
Finally, after more than 36 months of bickering, negotiations and ruptures due to lack of consensus on various agreements, the Liga MX and the Mexican Professional Players Association (AMFpro) finally agreed to pay salaries that they have been owed to the Veracruz team for the past three years.
Undoubtedly, good news for several members of the Jarocho squad and also for the members of the coaching staff. Veracruz was previously owned by businessman Fidel Kuri Grajales who was disaffiliated from Mexican soccer in 2019 after building up multiple debts.
Now, after 36 months of hardship, the players have been paid what they are owed regardless of the ongoing dispute between the Tiburones Rojos and the surety company that must pay out insurance money to professionals in these types of cases.
The news will come as a huge relief for various members of the first team, coaching staff, second, third and women’s teams, as well as other club employees is that they will be able to collect the money owed to them for salaries. The 156 claims that were filed and processed by the FMF Conciliation and Dispute Resolution Commission remain in force.
For now, the total amount to be delivered stands at 30 million pesos, of which the Liga MX contributed 20 million and the AMFpro, 10 million.
