Vinícius Junior is part of a collaboration with PlayStation ahead of the release of the Spider-Man 2 video game later this week.

One of the most hotly-anticipated games of the year, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, will be released exclusively on PS5 on Friday, 20 October. The upcoming game is the sequel to the much-loved 2018 release from Insomniac Games.

In the new title players will be able to switch between a number of suits for the eponymous hero, including one designed by Viní. The Real Madrid star confirmed his involvement in a post on social media, in which he announced the collaboration with KidSuper.

KidSuper is a clothing designer and social media personality who has worked with Vinícius to dream up a Brazil-inspired suit concept. Also included in the campaign are Formula One star Lando Norris and singer Rina Sawayama.

Vinícius follows Neymar in video game collaboration

In some quarters Vinícius has been heralded as the long-term successor to Neymar Jr in the Brazilian national team. The Real Madrid man is known to be a huge admirer of Neymar and he may have been inspired by the former Paris Saint-Germain forward’s video game involvement.

In 2021 Neymar became the first athlete to receive a custom skin in Fortnite. Players could play as the Brazilian star in the game and could also unlock certain outfits and quests.

The in-game Neymar boasted a yellow, green and blue outfit with the number 10 emblazoned on the front. Players could even copy Neymar’s ‘Hang Loose’ celebration in the game.

Vinícius’ tie-in with Spider-Man 2 is not the first example of a soccer player collaborating with a video game designer. This trend could become increasingly common in the coming years.
