Vinicius renews contract with Real Madrid
Los Blancos signed the Brazilian youngster for 45 million euros and now he is valued at around €120m.
Madridistas can sleep easy over the future of Vinicius. The 22-year-old Brazilian star, has already signed his new contract that binds him to the white shirt and to the Bernabéu until 2027. AS has learned that the agreement between the two parties was already signed and sealed in the summer (in fact, since July he’s been receiving his new payments), but the only thing left is for the club to decide on which date it announces the renewal of Vini because they have the option to do something only with him, or to do it jointly with the other two Brazilians who have fixed their future with Madrid: Rodrygo and Militao.
Vini fulfilling his promise and being rewarded
Vinicius signed for the Madrid club and signed his contract with Florentino Pérez on July 12, 2018, as soon as he came of age. Despite costing 45 million euros and having great potential, the club chose to give him a contract in accordance with his promising status (three million euros per season). That contract was to expire on June 30, 2024 and, given that last year he exploded into the star he now is, he never complained about having one of the lowest salaries in the squad (only Lunin and Vallejo were below him in the wage bill).
Vini preferred to do his speaking on the pitch and earn that raise that Madrid understood to be logical and necessary given the arrival of offers from state-owned clubs, who had already had their sights set on him, especially PSG. The player was always an obsession of Leonardo, former sports director of the Parisian club, until his dismissal last summer did away any possibility of negotiating with the player from Rio de Janeiro.
Vinicius: just one rising star at Real Madrid
The key lies in Vinicius himself, who always conveyed to Los Blanocs that his wish was to stay many years at the Santiago Bernabéu and that he would never go to another club just to earn more money. Vini is very integrated into Madrid life, he is surrounded here by his family and trustworthy people, so he has not hesitated at any time that his base is here.
At 22 years old and having signed until 2027, he knows that he should reach at least the age of 27 at the club of his life and with the possibility of having achieved by then some individual honours (Ballon d’Or, The Best…) that would allow him to negotiate his next contract with even more force. Although no financial details have come out, Vini has gone from the three million he earned to about eight, an amount that puts him on a medium-high scale within the squad, around that of Isco and Marcelo last year.
Vinicius has started the new season on fire and the Real Madrid website led yesterday about the Brazilian being the top scorer of Ancelotti’s team with his eight goals (five in the league and three in the Champions League), one more than Fede Valverde and two more than Benzema and Rodrygo. Vini placed eighth in the recent vote for the Ballon d’Or and, if he continues this progression, he hopes to be on the podium in 2023, an accolade that would also trigger a bonus in his new contract.
Vini, in white at least until 2027. The Bernabéu fans, who adore and idolize him, can rest easy. He’s here for a while.
