Vinicius: to sell or renew, that is Real Madrid’s question

Vinicius Jr. is a player who provokes debate and division. This is also true when it comes to his future with Real Madrid. Following an online survey conducted by AS, 57.6% of readers are in favour of transferring Vinicius to the Saudi Arabian top flight with the remaining 42.4% keen for the Brazilian to stay with Madrid despite the huge amount of money that would be used for his signature.

The survey was conducted via the official AS channels: website, social networks and the WhatsApp channel, with more than 18,000 people participating.

The question posed was was simple and direct: “Should Real Madrid renew or sell Vinicius to Saudi Arabia?” With two possible answers. Keep him or let him go.

Real Madrid would receive around 300 million euro for the deal and should it materialise, the winger would be the most expensive signing in the entire history of football.

“Tired of the subject”

Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke about this whole issue in a the press conference ahead of Saturday’s game against Osasuna and stated: “I’m tired of the subject. Does it worry me? No. Do I see him happy? Yes.

There is nothing more to add than what I added a few weeks ago. It’s a subject that is talked about away from the club but not here.

I see Vini very motivated and, above all, for what he did in the game against City, where he was under a lot of pressure and he held up very well, also making the difference.”

Saudi calls

“Do you know if the club is upset with the way Vinicius is handling this whole issue?” the Italian coach was later asked. To which he was especially brief: “I don’t know.” He finished without closing his own door to a possible move to Saudi Arabia: “Myself in the SPL? Why not. If I wanted to continue in football, why not. The problem is whether I want to continue or not in the game after Real Madrid.” For now, Ancelotti has a contract at Real Madrid until 2026.
