The inaugural edition of the CONCACAF W Gold Cup is approaching its climax, with the identities of the four semi-finalists now confirmed.

Who has qualified for the W Gold Cup semi-finals?

In Saturday’s opening quarter-finals, Canada saw off Costa Rica 1-0 thanks to Evelyne Viens’ extra-time goal, before Brazil romped past South American rivals Argentina, sweeping to a 5-1 victory. Bia Zaneratto scored twice for the Seleçao, with Vitória, Yasmim and Gabi Nunes also on target.

On Sunday, Mexico and the USWNT then completed the semi-final line-up. The Mexicans eliminated Paraguay in an entertaining last-eight clash, Lizbeth Ovalle grabbing a brace in a 3-2 triumph. Ovalle now has five goals at the W Gold Cup, a haul that puts her level with Canada’s Adriana Leon at the top of the scoring charts.

Later in the day, the USWNT bounced back from their surprise defeat to Mexico at the end of the group stage, swatting Colombia aside with three first-half goals at BMO Stadium. Lindsey Horan, Jenna Nighswonger and Jaedyn Shaw netted for the tournament hosts.

The USWNT now move on to a semi-final against Canada, while Brazil and Mexico will battle it out to meet one of the two North American nations in Sunday’s final. San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium, home to National Women’s Soccer League team San Diego Wave, will be the venue for both semi-finals and next weekend’s trophy decider.
