Watch: ‘Messi’s bodyguard’ shows his skills at Inter Miami training center
Yassine Chueko became an online sensation when supporters noticed him shadowing Lionel Messi at games and he seems to have learnt from the Argentine.
Since Lionel Messi touched down in Miami one figure has been close to the Argentine at almost all of his public appearances, closer than Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and even wife Antonela Roccuzzo. Throughout that time Messi’s every move has been shadowed by Yassine Chueko, his bodyguard.
Chueko is the imposing figure seen stalking along the touchline at Inter Miami games, keeping his eyes fixed on the Argentinian World Cup winner. His full-focus approach to the job generated headlines and Chueko has become something of a celebrity.
He also seems to have learnt a thing or two from the time spent guarding perhaps the greatest soccer player of all time. On Tuesday Argentine television personality Fernando Fiore shared footage of Yassine Chueko testing his skills on the practice field in Miami, showing good feet for a big man.
Lionel Messi returned to training with the rest of the Inter Miami team on Tuesday after being rested for last weekend’s MLS fixture against CF Montreal. Miami lost for the first time in 2024 against the Canadian side but their sights will now be fixed on Wednesday’s CONCACAF Champions Cup decider against Nashville SC.
Messi and Suarez scored to drag the Herons back from a two-goal deficit in the first leg. Miami return to Chase Stadium for the second leg and will be confident of getting the job done in front of their home support. Lionel Messi will be back on the field and Yassine Chueko will be back on the touchline, watching every kick from the Miami captain.
