CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

What American soccer players will be in the 22/23 Champions League?

The US men’s national team has been improving over the decades and these days has a number of players featuring in the premiere club competition.

Update:
Christian Pulisic, decepcionado porque Todd Boehly le cerró la puerta de salida del Chelsea
Robbie Jay Barratt - AMAGetty

It’s not long until another Champions League competition begins in earnest, with all the names of the group stage qualifiers now known, and their fates are decided in UEFA’s elaborate draw in Istanbul. Few would dare argue that it is the top continental club competition around and that is, in part, due to the global stars that play for the globe’s elite clubs.

USA in Champions League

Although no teams from the MLS can feature in the premiere competition -- basic geography knowledge should have led you to that understanding, I trust -- there is decent US interest in the playing staff of clubs in the Champions League. At the current count, there are ten players from the USMNT in contention to take part in the group stage, although with the transfer window still open there is also a chance that more moves could affect this. Let’s take a look...

The Champions League Americans:

  • Christian Pulisic (Chelsea) - worth noting that a rumoured move to Man Utd would take him out of the UCL.
  • Sergiño Dest (Barcelona)
  • Weston McKennie (Juventus)
  • Gio Reyna (Borussia Dortmund)
  • Cameron Carter-Vickers (Celtic)
  • Malik Tillman (Rangers)
  • James Sands (Rangers)
  • Josh Cohen (Maccabi Haifa)
  • Timmy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt)
  • Owen Otasowie (Club Brugge)
