MLS have revealed the top selling shirts for the 2023 season, and one name is way out in front.
Achieving the MLS Cup title with LAFC against Philadelphia Union last season was one of Carlos Vela’s biggest dreams with the club. And it seems as though the fans have responded in kind, as the Mexican’s shirt is the number one seller in MLS, according to numbers posted by the league.
Vela is only one of two players in the list of 25 revealed by the US Soccer league, with Denis Bouanga being his only teammate to break into the top bracket of shirt sales this season.
Which players are in the top 10 best sellers?
Making up the top 5 sellers along with Vela are Hany Mukhtar and Walker Zimmerman of Nashville SC, Javier Hernández of LA Galaxy and Jordan Morris of the Seattle Sounders.
The rest of the top ten is made up of Josef Martínez (Inter Miami), Thiago Almada (Atlanta United), Daniel Gazdag (Philadelphia Union), Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union) and Riqui Puig (LA Galaxy).
Which MLS clubs sold the most shirts in 2023?
In terms of clubs, the current Concacaf Champions, Seattle Sounders are the top selling franchise in MLS, and it is no surprise to see players such as Jordan Morris, Cristian Roldán, Nicolás Lodeiro, Raúl Ruidíaz and Joao Paulo in the individual top 25 list.
As well as the Sounders, Nashville SC, Charlotte FC, Philadelphia Union and Austin FC make up the rest of the top 5 best-selling club shirts.
