I don’t know about you but that summer felt pretty long without our much-loved sport. There was no scrambling for the final scores across the different leagues on Saturday and Sunday, or even choosing your next Fantasy Premier League team on Friday mornings. But before we know it, and after a break from the beautiful game that many called for, it will all be back with a bang very soon.

When does the 2023-24 Premier League season start?

Newly-promoted Burnley take on reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on the opening day of the new season. Pep Guardiola will go up against his former City captain Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor, Burnley, on Friday, August 11.

This start is one week later than the 2022-23 campaign, with the schedule returning to normal following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Who went down?

Southampton, Leicester City and Leeds United were relegated from the top flight last season.

Who came up?

Burnley, Sheffield United and surprise package Luton Town are the three promoted clubs from the Championship.
