Singer Shakira has caused a sensation with the lyrics of her track on BZRP Sessions #53, released this week in collaboration with Argentinian producer Bizarrap.

Shakira takes aim at former partner Piqué

The song includes several stinging attacks on her ex-partner, former Barcelona and Spain footballer Gerard Piqué, and his current girlfriend, Clara Chía. It has sparked thousands of reactions on social media.

From commercial brands such as Renault, Casio and Rolex, to football pundits like Marc Crosas, it feels like everyone has had their say on this worldwide trending topic.

That includes former Cruz Azul star Emanuel Villa, who now works as an analyst for the TV broadcaster TUDN. What was not expected was that Raúl Gutiérrez, the Liga MX giants’ current head coach, would respond to him on Twitter.

Villa has say - and Cruz Azul boss hits back

‘’I have nothing against Shakira’s song, but I was thinking about her children and I think it doesn’t do them any favours,” Villa tweeted on Thursday.

“On the contrary! You’ve always got to protect children [...] even if you’re a public figure! No matter who has messed up! Money and fame seem to be more important!

Soon afterwards, Gutiérrez replied: “The question is: was Piqué thinking about the children when he took the person mentioned [in BZRP Session #53] to his house, where he lived with Shakira?’’

Gutiérrez’s tweet refers to claims that Piqué was unfaithful to Shakira with Chía while still in a relationship with the Colombian.

Shakira and Piqué have two sons together, Sasha and Milan, aged seven and nine, respectively.
